Music Sucks but the workout is great!September 8, 2010 Gina(Sugarland, Tx.) I would have given this DVD a 5-star rating were it not for the generic techno background music. I worked up a sweat doing 3 of the workouts in one session. The moves are simple to learn and yet fun to do. As I said, the music leaves much to be desired. I know it is expensive to use a known artist such a 50 cent or Funk-a-delic for your music but I would pay extra just to be able to dance to someone's music I enjoy. Enough said. Other than the music, this DVD gives a sweat-breaking workout!
FunAugust 30, 2010 Hakidonmuya These are fun dance exercises, though they do need some extra space. The instructor is motivating without being irritating, and it's got different dances for different levels of skill. A definite workout.
Fun, quick workoutJuly 28, 2010 Dienne(Cicero, IL) First of all, about me: I'm in my late 30s and a mother of two, ages 3.5 and 1.5. In my pre-kid days I was in decent shape; maybe not a world-class athlete, but fit enough to do martial arts and run 5ks. But since the births of my kids, I've been so busy working (sedentary job) and taking care of the kids that I hardly noticed how badly out of shape I was getting. Busting out of my fat clothes and having burgeoning health problems were wake up calls that, busy or not, I need to get off my behind and start moving.
I wanted to get an exercise video because trying to get out of the house to go to a health club or class or even out for a walk is sheer hassle. I was floored by the sheer array of exercise videos out there. I decided that it had to be something fun, so, being a former swing dancer, I looked for something dance-related. I was looking for something like Richard Simmons' "Sweating to the Oldies", but less cheesy. The "10 Minute Solution: Fat Blasting Dance Mix" was one of the first selections to come up on my search. I loved the idea of quick 10 minute segments since I am usually so pressed for time, so I decided to try it out.
I've now been using it for about two weeks and I can already see and feel some beginning results. I've done each segment at least two times each, more for most segments. The difficulty level is just right for me. Despite my dance and martial arts history, I'm still badly uncoordinated. I'm starting to get the hang of the basic moves and beginning to work on style and coordinating upper and lower body. I can foresee a time when this video won't cut it any more and I'll need to move on to something more difficult, but it's just right now, and will always be a fun one to return to at times when I want an easier/more fun workout.
Jennifer Galardi is a good, encouraging instructor who is not at all perky or annoying like many aerobic instructors. I also love the fact that it is programmable, so you can mix and match whatever workouts you want. The first three segments are more cardio-oriented, while the last two are more toning oriented (although all five contain elements of both), so I usually pick one or two of the cardio segments with a toning segment.
My two criticisms of the video are that I wish there were more segments, as there are only so many ways you can mix and match five segments; and that I wish the music were real music rather than just a background beat. But nonetheless, I recommend this particular "10 Minute Solution" and I will be looking into others in the "10 Minute Solution" series.
Fun workout for the workout challengedJune 29, 2010 Kelly C McRae I don't like working out in general but this is fun. The dance moves are current and it's not intense or complicated enough to frustrate me into not doing it.
For Cheerleaders OnlyJune 2, 2010 Barry Reese I was very disappointed. They didn't teach the moves - even on the most basic of the workouts. I was completely lost and unable to keep up. Music was lame and tuneless as well. Went straight into the Yard Sale box.
