Description

David Suchet is back as Hercule Poirot. The dapper Belgian detective takes on three more cases in these wildly popular adaptations of Christie’s acclaimed classics. As seen on the PBS Mystery! series.

Murder on the Orient Express -- Onboard the Orient Express, an unsavory traveler (Toby Jones) requests Poirot’s protection; after the man is stabbed to death, Poirot searches for the killer on the now snowbound train. The star-studded cast includes Barbara Hershey, Hugh Bonneville, and Dame Eileen Atkins.

Third Girl -- Poirot collaborates with crime novelist Ariadne Oliver (Zo Wanamaker) to help a young heiress who thinks she may have committed a murder. When the woman’s childhood nanny is found dead, Poirot believes he has the victim--but he still has a long list of suspects. Peter Bowles and James Wilby guest star.

Appointment with Death--Hercule Poirot is visiting an archaeological dig in the Syrian Desert when the wife of Lord Boynton (Tim Curry) is murdered. Poirot carefully sorts through the woman’s many enemies to unearth the truth about her death. Also starring John Hannah and Elizabeth McGovern.

1 out of 5 stars From all such devils, good Lord deliver us!   September 6, 2010
Lee-Anne Phillips
This was the most horrific Poirot I've ever had the misfortune to see. From his calm acceptance of the vicious murder of a woman before his very eyes, which doesn't seem to ruffle his composure in the slightest, to the molestation of a woman just down the corridor in the famous Express, this Poirot is so dissociated from the world one wonders he bothers to bathe. He stands aloof, like the callous bystanders in the Catherine "Kitty" Genovese assault, rape, and murder, whilst dreadful things happen beneath his nose, and then pretends to sit in judgment of the "sinners," the perfectly self-righteous little prig. Feh!

My only regret is that I had to award one star, when in fact it's worth much less, because it taints the body of Suchet's work by infection -- is this the nasty truth behind the "funny little Belgian's" seemingly harmless facade? It sullies the memory of Agatha Christie's Poirot as well, with a nauseating religiosity and sanctimonious contempt that were absent in the books.

The producers blame the Agatha Christie Estate, claiming that they approve of the changes. The more fools they.

5 out of 5 stars my favorite little detective.   September 2, 2010
Donna Jean Ray (GRAND TERRACE, CALIFORNIA, US)
I absolutely love the little gray cells of this world famous detective of Agatha Christi's invention. I was so saddened to hear of David Suchet' untimely death. I was afraid there would be no more video's coming out. I have everything he has starred in so far, that's available. I really keep the little detective in my life as much as possible. I really enjoy him and Capt.Hastings.
thank you so very much for continuing to bring out his video's,

Jeany Ray

1 out of 5 stars Give us back the old Poirot!   September 2, 2010

First, I want to say that I'm a big fan of this series and have seen all of them, own the DVDS, and watch them over and over again. But the new producers of this series have ruined it. Once again missing are Miss Lemon, Hastings and the Inspector. Instead, we get an overly serious Poirot. The tone is no longer fun -- it's grim, VERY grim, in both Orient Express and Appointment With Death. I will watch neither of those shows again. Please, please bring back the old producers who did such a fine job for all those years. This new format and tone are NOT working.

5 out of 5 stars quality of poirot films   August 30, 2010
Allan W. Humphrey (hudson valley,n.y.)
the production quality just gets steadily better. different dimensions are appearing in poirot character as he ages. also interesting to see the moral dilemma with which he wrestles in 'murder on the orient express'.

5 out of 5 stars The BEST Poirot EVER & we've got 'em all   August 28, 2010

My wife and I are avid Agatha Christie "Junkies" aka Poirot is number 1 and this set without a doubt is the BEST. Murder On The Orient Express is worth every cent and the actual trip on the present train today is very enjoyable considering David Suchet is at his normal self and not in character as Poirot. I only wish the old Hastings character was resurrected. Wishful thinking. This is one set you MUST HAVE!
